Has anyone attempted or have built a idi if so what are some good notes to have and weak points? I do know the pre combustion chambers are a major problem when it comes to power and a 7.3 block wouldn't handle it well. Just curious if building a 6.9 to run 500hp would be worth it & reliable or would it be like throwing money down an empty well.

MY old boss had a sweet pre powerstroke 7.3 with a turbo installed aftermarket. It drove great had plenty of power.

 

it has been done many many times.
i remember back in the late 80's early 90's there was a 1200 hp idi for a while.
