The last gasp of summer is here. I am still messing with my Mini Cooper but a majority of the repairs should be done this weekend. This thing leaks more oil than the Exxon Valdese. I am replacing the oil pan gasket, oil filter housing gasket and crank sensor O-ring. I also have a front main seal but the special tool to remove the harmonic balancer won't arrive till Friday. I also have a new AC compressor, condenser and expansion valve. Once I get this car done I will start back on the 79.
I found out that my regular mechanic won't touch a diesel motor. Can y'all recommend a good diesel mechanic for Jasper area? I know several good old boys who are willing but I much prefer an experienced one. Working on a bobcat is different than my wife's vehicle. It's a 2003 6.0 4x4. Any names would be helpful.
I can do the basic maintenance but I know the heads can sometimes become a problem as time goes on. Was planning ahead for if/when they need work. Also, I am leaning towards installing the blue springs for increased pressure. Do you have any experience or thoughts on them?

Tom Martin, Tom’s truck and auto repair in Blairsville. There is nobody else within 500mi of here I would send a 6.0 PSD to.
Hey guys, hope you don't mind me sticking my head in here. I'm headed to Blakely, GA over the weekend of Oct. 8-10 and was wondering if there is anyone around Blakely who could help me get from the airport there to town and back. That is, flying weather permitting. Otherwise, is there any Uber activity in the area?
Thanks,
Mark

I’m hosting another FTE gathering next month. It’s mostly 7.3 guys and their families - but y’all will fit right in. Like my friend Sous says, it’s not about the trucks - it’s about the camaraderie (or something like that...) Read about our last couple of GTG’s here and feel free to post in this thread if you want to crash the party.
Fall is under way here in the mountains. It’s definitely cooler and the leaves are starting to turn already.
We took my Mom’s ‘29 (it’s a Shay) to the farmers market today with one of my son’s giant pumpkins. He is an alumni of the 4H club and helped them grow their giant pumpkins this year.
That was a PUMPKIN? That thing was massive. Congrats. I bet it was a hit at the market. That 29 was great also. When do you expect to do the get together and how do we get more info?

We will be doing the next one on October 23rd.
I posted a link to a thread up in the 99-03 7.3 forum with lots of details and pics of previous gatherings. Feel free to post in that thread or PM me and I’ll give you my phone number.
