Air Filter Fit Alert
I ran into a little trouble replacing the air filter on my truck. It's an '84 F250 351W with the VIN G 2bbl carb. For years, I had been using NAPA Gold #2073, and that's what their website still displays:
NAPA Gold #2073
With this latest one, I noticed it was about 3/16" too tall. The lid on the air cleaner housing would not fully seat, with a gap around the perimeter.
I ended up going with a CarQuest (Advance Auto Parts) #87073 and it fit correctly:

The inside and outside diameters are the same. The only difference is the height. Here's a side-by-side shot showing the height difference, circled in red:

Normally I've had very good results with NAPA, but not today. I'm not sure who actually makes these filters for them, but there's a good possibility other brands will be too tall, also. If your truck takes the same filter as my truck, measure it before leaving the parts store. 2-3/8" high is just right. 2-9/16" high won't fit.
