The Intake Air Temp (@ filter) is showing 58 deg all the time. I’ve unplugged it, cleaned connection, still shows 58 deg. How do I test it and pigtail? Does this sensor need replaced?
How are you testing the function of the sensor? If you are using TorquePro or another scantool, you should verify the reading with FORScan or FORScan Lite in my opinion.
I have attached the IAT pinpoint test from the Ford Service Manual PC/ED volume.
Also, as you requested...
Most likely the sensor is shot and needs to be replaced. This sensor does not go out often, but it does happen. Stick to OEM/Motorcraft from a reputable source.

It’s the reading from ScanGaugeII…. It was working a month or so ago. Removed inner fender-well to replace steering gears. When I plugged it back in,, decided to run thru all the reading and noticed it was only showing 58 on a 90 deg day. Cleaned connection, etc. same reading.. and MPG’s are off a bit!
Just priced one at the stealership! $120.. replied to parts guy; “that’s insane for that part, was someone suck’n on a crack pipe when they input the price?” He laughed!
They often have genuine parts for a much more attractive price than the dealer.
Dealers are silly priced. They wanted $400 to replace a starter on a 2002 Mercury Sable that was my commuter car. Like, I laughed and told them they were high on something.
