On my 2020 Sync 3.4, when I connect my phone to the trucks WiFi and Bluetooth, about 50% of my Bluetooth calls will have a lot of static - to the point where you can’t hear the caller but they can hear me fine. As soon as I disconnect the phone from the trucks WiFi, call immediately clears up. Happened since new. Have replaced APIM and ACM. Anyone else have this problem? Happens on iPhone 12 and iPhone 7. Thanks!
I have the same issue - 2021 F250, 02/21 build date. I noticed that there is a sync update available for me and I was going to try that before going to the dealer. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it does and doesn’t do it. I thought it might be related to using the induction charger and the same time but it’s not.
Interesting. I just updated my sync to the latest build. I had the issue before and now after the update. Hopefully someone will come along and have some insight.

Is there anything plugged into a 12V charge port? I have had cheap chargers cause static. Do you have LED bulbs that are not factory? They have been know to cause static and key fobs not to work. What other electronics are on? Not factory stuff.
Static can be caused by a lot of different things, try someone else phone and see if you get the same results. Does it always happen or just when driving, if driving is it always in the same place/location?

Good thoughts, Mlarv. Truck is stock with a few phone chargers and flashlight chargers plugged in. Haven't noticed any particular times/places when the static is present (i.e. night vs daytime vs rain/fog). Been fairly random.

Have had the same results with an older iphone 7.
Will try unplugging charger and see what happens.
I would start by unplugging any chargers etc first. I would use the flash light for awhile then plug it in and see if that is causing the static. I have a iPhone 10XR and don't have any issues unless my grandson plugs in his game thing. Not sure which one it is, all I know is when he plugs it in either in my truck or my wife's Expedition.
Static is an electrical interference caused by improper shielding or just bad engineering. I have had LED bulbs cause so much static that my garage radio was unusable. My dewlap battery chargers will cause static on the radio if they are within 10 feet of it.
I have yet to see Software or Firmware cause the issue in 43 years of playing and teaching electronics.
Resurrecting this thread. As an update, I have unplugged all chargers in the truck. Updated the Iphone and SYNC software. Still having the static on bluetooth calls when the phone is connected to the trucks wifi. If i disconnect wifi during a call with static, quality immediately improves.
So if I am understanding this correctly. Your are using the wireless modem in the truck to connect to the internet. You area also using bluetooth to connect to the Sync unit to play music display maps etc.
When you are on the call still connected to the wifi modem you have static, but when you turn off wifi on the phone the bluetooth works fine.
If so try this. Connect to the wifi in your house and a bluetooth speaker or ear phones that you can make a call from. See if the problem is still there. If not move the BT device nearer to the wifi antenna and see if you get it.
If you don't have any issues in the house, it might be a simple ground plain problem on the truck. To find a simple ground plain problem on your truck is not so simple.
I would start at the dealer and show them there issue and have them raise a concern to Ford engineers. It might be be the wifi modem not shielded correctly, or not making a good ground.

That's exactly the case, Mlarv.
You really seem to know your stuff. I don't imagine this is your first electronics rodeo?
Bringing this thread back. I have updated SYNC to the latest build. Unplugged every accessory in the vehicle. Toggled on and off all the wifi settings on the phone and SYNC.
The static only occurs when the phone is connected to the truck's hotspot, no issue when connected to my office or house hotspot. Static also occurs on both my Iphone 12 Pro max and Iphone 7 Plus.
Any thoughts? I'm stumped! I've read that bluetooth and wifi can sometime interfere with each other when in close proximity to each other since they use the same 2.4gz frequency. Maybe thats the issue? The trucks hotspot is for data only and not to be used during phone calls? But surely more people would be having this issue if this was the case.
