Additional interior questions

Thanks again for the immediate assistance yesterday, I asked about door clips I had been trying to locate for awhile and within a few hours this forum once again solved my dilemma, so here are a few more questions......

1. What company is the best to order the carpet?
2. Has anyone had luck with the plastic sun visors, I have seen them in many places but not sure how well they would hold up?
3. What are some ideas for the door panels, I have seen the regular panels you can purchase however I was looking for something different, even thinking of having the upholstery folks create one but if I had an example that would help.

I have some interior parts such as the chrome piece on the dash, the chrome piece at the bottom of the dash pad, a door panel cover. As much help as I have received here it’s the lease I can do to help someone else.

Thanks again

1. The best, or at least most popular kit seems to be ACC. They are sold by many of the truck parts guys, but also on eBay, or you can buy direct.

2. Not familiar with plastic visors, I’d be naturally skeptical . There are decent reproductions in a few colors, which can be color-dyed to suit, and they are not expensive. Others have them made at an upholstery shop, sounds like money to me.

3. I have the re-popped ABS plastic upper door panels. I don’t like them, and am searching for NOS ones, probably won’t find them in my lifetime. I prefer originals to any custom made ones I’ve ever seen, that is personal preference. Some home-upholstered panels look down-right - ahem - home-upholstered. I like the way my truck came from the factory.

As mentioned, you're going to find that most of the vendors sell carpet from the same company, ACC (Automotive Classic Carpet). I found the best price for mine, on RockAuto. I like it, although it was a little wide and I had to trim it to fit. Most people have been happy with that brand, and they make a nice navy blue that would go well with your truck.
I do have the padded visors from Dennis Carpenter. I dyed them to match my interior with SEM vinyl spray color and I really like them. Unlike ibuzzard, my interior is anything but stock so, for my tastes, I don't like the cardboard visors. I will say, though, that the surface of the visors had a lot of porosity in them and when I complained to Dennis Carpenter about them, all I heard were crickets. I had to solve the problem by spraying them heavily and using a plastic body filler scraper, fill in the tiny pinholes. They turned out well, but it took some work. They stay up or down well, also, no dropping.
I had custom door panels made to match my interior. The thing I really like about them, is that they followed the look and form of the dash and kick panels to make them consistent with the aftermarket style. So, I guess it depends on what look you're after. I agree with ibuzzard that a lot of home-made panels....look just so. I'm glad I sprung for the professionally-done door panels. Makes the interior look complete....and, very unique!

To OP, and resonateur : Not only the stock fiberboard visors are re-popped, but I have also seen the deluxe padded ones. I scored a used set of padded visors off eBay that are a perfect match for my stock interior, a turquoise (Carribean Turquoise?) color.

I love those panels. I'm going to do something similar on mine.

Al,
I have the ACC carpet as well and am very very please with it. I did not have to trim the sides at all as it was a perfect fit.
My sun visors were not in bad shape other than the vinyl was saggy so I had a friend of mine recover them

I have two sets of NOS panels. I sold @66v8baby the single spare. Once I get past this portion of my build I should have a spare set.
