I think the 5.0 will be gone from the F150 lineup in the next 3-5 years.
I think there's a segment of the buying public that wants a NA V8, and Ford doesn't want to send all those buyers elsewhere. I suspect they'll keep some version of this engine around for as long as possible.

True but, times are changing and the EB engines far outsell the 5.0 and I for one will be sad when it’s dropped.
I said awhile back that Toyota or Ford will be the first to drop the V8 in the 1/2 ton and Toyota started the ball rolling.
Out of all of the 1/2 ton brands, Ford is in the best position to drop the NA V8.

I think as long as GM and Ram continue to offer a N/A V8 Ford will as well. What Toyota does in the full size market is essentially inconsequential to Ford because of the sheer volume Ford, GM and Ram sale. Toyota influence is more in the midsize/compact market.
I agree with what was mentioned about sales of the Tundra. With stricter CAFE regulations coming, more than likely this played a roll in Toyota’s decision.
I wonder how many EB F150’s are sold when compared to the V8 powered GM twins and the Dodge.
The next few years in the 1/2 ton market is going to be very interesting and exciting and that’s good news for consumers.

I agree that Ford has the best 6 cylinder lineup and could drop the 5.0 but having GM and Ram with strong v8 lineups keeps it in Ford's lineup of engines. We currently have lots of good options that fit most people's needs.
My wife's F150 has a 3.5 EB with 147K and mine has the 5.0 with 121K. I like both engines and neither has given any notable problems.
The main reason fwer 5.0s are sold is the dealers don't order them. Of course the 2.7eco is standard for the Screw, but the next most plentiful is the 3.5 Eco, 5.0 is the redheaded stepchild!
I only like two things about the 5.0. One is the sound and two is they get a little better fuel economy towing but if I had my choice I will take the twin turbos of the 3.5 eco. The low end torque can't be beat for towing and the turbos are better for high altitude than a NA
