Hi all.
I am considering ordering a 2022 Diesel Super Duty Lariat 4x4 with a heavy tow package, 20" wheels, and a 3.55 electronic rear axle. I called ford and asked them if they could tell me what the height would be for that combination and they were not able to answer my question. The specs say that it goes from 79"-81.5". Is 81.5" the highest it will be no matter the configuration? My garage door is 83" and it would be a deal-breaker if it did not fit.
Lars, I have 20" wheels, 4x4, with snow plow package (front sits up a little higher than w/o). The bottom edge of the rubber gasket hanging down from the opening of my garage is 82.5" high. The truck clears this with only about 1"-2" to spare (at most). I can even get into the garage with the sunroof tilted open. If you live someplace where there is snow, use caution if there is snow on the ground. About 95% sure you will fit just fine.
Also, if you are working with a local dealer they will often let you take the truck home to see if it fits.
My understanding of the Ford spec webpage is the 81.5" is the height of the standard configuration. Some options may change the height - probably upwards especially if you are looking at the 20" wheels. My garage was also the limiting factor in my decision of which configuration to get. I went with the standard 18" wheels because I have read in a few threads on the FTE forum that the 20" wheels will add another inch to the height.
As for the wait time, I think that partly depends on what you order and how the availability of all the pieces needed for your build are holding up. If you are thinking of adaptive steering, you will definitely be looking at the longer of the time frames. There are a couple of other threads - 2022 Unscheduled Super Duty List, and 2022 Tracking Spreadsheet that will give you an idea of how long some folks are waiting and what they ordered. I think, based on my sorting of the ordered trucks, that the time from order to delivery looks like a minimum of 50 days to a max of around 100 days for trucks ordered after early July. The trucks that were ordered before they started 2022 production obviously are longer. I can't tell why some are quicker but I'm hoping for about 90 days or less on my order.

The garage door or the frame is 83"? If the garage door is hanging lower than the frame, try to adjust the height up using the adjustment controls on the garage door opener. I have mine adjusted so that the door is open at just about the same height as the garage door frame.
I vote for measuring an equally equipped truck. I forgot what the Ford specs said my truck would be, but it turned out to be 1-1/2" taller than the spec sheet dimension. I wasn't even going to try getting it into my home garage, but I did measure it to ensure I could get into the garage at work. FWIW, the work garage had a 7'2" maximum height posted at the entrance and I found the lowest point inside was 7'3". Yes, I measured the garage, too. It's lowest point was a fire sprinkler pipe.
The garage door is above the frame. The top part of the frame is at 83" and then there is a rubber seal hanging down but I can move the seal to the top of the door instead.
I was very concerned by my truck fitting in my garage also, it seems that because of the angle of approach from my drive it actually gives me more clearance than the highest part of the truck. I thought it would be within about .5 inch, and I have about 2 inches to spare. 22 F350, tow package, Lariat. FX4. Love the truck and the color, Antimatter Blue.
