You need to keep tongue weight ratings in mind as well. The toy hauler I have on order has around a 1800-2200lb tongue weight, depending on how it's loaded. The only 3" shanks/hitches I've come across so far that are rated for that weight is the GEN-Y and Bulletproof, and you can add a WDH to those, which I'll need as well. These hitches give you the option of two different sized ***** as well. At this point I'm leaning towards the GEN Y.
I was just checking things out and realized that my Fastway E2 is a 2" shank. Plenty I'm sure, but I'm wondering if I even need a WDH/anti-sway hitch with my new truck.
I rethought things and was just about to pull the trigger on a Weigh Safe WS8-3.
3" shank
2" & 2 5/16" *****
Up to 8" drop adjustable

2,200 tongue weight
Nice tongue scale addition even tough I have a Sherline already.
That Andersen set-up is well north of $600. That's allotta cheddah....
Yes, but it’s a WDH with sway control and is in line, if not less expensive than other WDH’s. Of course though just a shank, a hitch and a ball will be less expensive, but you won’t get weight distribution properties with just a ball, or (and more important to me now) sway control.
I was just pointing out for me, it’s a great option because I get an excellent WDH with sway control with an actual 3 inch shank, plus it will work well as a regular ball hitch, assuming the 2 5/16 is the correct size ball.

Get the weigh safe without the scale. It's sold as the 180 version. The scale is prone to fail, I was six deep on replacements. There is no damper in the gauge and it will blow it's oil if you go above 2k load. Very easy to do if loaded heavy and the hitch bounces up and down. Look up weigh safe gauge failure.

For WDH and if it's antisway as well, you're right. It's not out of line at all. Per the specs I don't need WDH and with the limited towing I do these days I'd rather buy a regular hitch that I can use every day and is more versatile.
My 2020 F350 is 2,200 and 21,200 for both wdh and weight carrying.

Yes, you still need weight distribution (for ride quality) and sway control. The Ford receiver is rated to hold the entire tongue weight without weight distribution. The receiver does nothing for actually distributing the weight or controlling sway. Some Super Duty models have reactive sway control. I'm not a fan of that.
The Andersen has sway control built in. It does work.
It's only money right? They print more every day... Decided to go with the Weigh Safe scale. If the scale does stop working someday it won't stop the hitch from working. I like it in the mean time.

That's a very nice hitch. I just wish you could add a WDH to that drop hitch. Unfortunately Weigh Safe doesn't make a 3" shank for their WDH setup.

This is just my everyday hitch. I'll still use my E2 WDH/Antisway when I need it. I ordered the Curt adapter to replace the Ford adapter so it will fit better though.
