Hey guys I just recently purchased an 88 bronco 2, automatic 4x4 with a 2.9l v6. I’m looking to do a 302 swap. I’ve read forum after forum about it and swapping the engine and stuff like will be easy for me I have everything to do it, but I don’t know much about what transmission and I definitely don’t know much about transfer cases. My donor truck I’m getting the 302 out of is an 86 Ford F-150 with a 4 speed granny gear manual. I’ve heard that with a little body lift and some tight squeezing I might be able to fit the transmission and transfer case. Would I be able to just take all of my parts off the truck, like the clutch pedal and what not or would it be better to try to find an automatic
I’ve heard that the transmission that comes out of the Bronco 2 won’t hold up to the v8, otherwise I’d change bell housing or buy an adapter and be done with it.

Reason: Misspellings
You will need a transmission that bolts up to the 302. If an automatic, you can probably mix and match.
If you want to bring a manual, you will have to mix and match BII pedals and clutch master to the F150 clutch.
In some BII you will find a Mazda transmission similar in design to the Mazda used in the F150. But they are not the same trans nor do they have the same bell to engine pattern. (One piece case/bell)
The automatic will make the swap a lot easier and be easier on the BII driveline.
