Question 2017 Cooling System Question

Good morning Ford Truck Lovers! ;-)

I have a cooling system question for you...

So I was under the impression that the primary cooling system on the 6.7 diesel was for the engine and the secondary was for the transmission. Then a read the following statement on the SPE Thermostat page....

"2017+ Powerstrokes use the primary cooling system to cool the transmission unlike the 2011-2016 which uses the secondary cooling system."

So if this is true, what is the secondary cooling system used for?

Thanks.

Intercooler. There may be other things on the circuit, but it mostly exists to cool the air charge.
