Hey guys long time no post. So I bought a 95 f350 with a Cummins in it. The dream , for me at least. The problem is that the throttle cable form the 460
That was in it is too long. I can't really re route it with out worrying about it rubbing on things. I'd like to keep the "Ford" end on it as I'm in the process of putting the Ford cruise control on it. Has any one successfully shortened one? I need like line 8" shorter. Or is there a shorter stock cable ? The 351 one is actually longer. I tried that.

does the 460 throttle cable work like the rest of the gassers? Where it just. Has a cable eye end go into the bushing on pedal which is the end of the cable and thus pulls. If you pull the slack in the cab, trim plastic if need, and pull the cable through until good, iou can find a way to rig the cable there. But it’s important that the idle spot does not push or pull on the tb plates. And wot makes wot and that it’s not binding.
Yeah the end of the cable is the same as the 351 cable. I assume they are all the same just different lengths
diesels do not have a remotely similar setup because no cable. Lol. But for gas, the 4.9 seems to have a unique pedal bracket and cable May en because of where the TB is they have a different approach
They are not all the same. The pivot connection at the throttle seems to be the same from what I have seen, but there is an assortment of bracket styles depending on year and model. The Mustang and Lightning cables are pretty short.
If I was going to shorten one, I would remove the ferrule at the pedal end, and slide parts off from that side, adjust as necessary and reassemble. You could also look at a custom cable from Lokar. They made me a set of custom cables many years ago for a carb conversion and they were perfect.
