I like the stock turbo whistle on my 21 but of course it would be nice if it was a little louder. I don’t care as much about the V8 rumble, I’m after a slightly louder turbo.

Would the S&B accomplish that? Would anybody be wary of the open intake as it relates to water exposure?

 

An intake won't really make much of a difference. You want your Turbo to sound good lol Run a STRAIGHT PIPE exhaust on the diesel and remove the emissions. It'll sound great LOL.

 

Spend that kind of money for a slightly louder turbo, and possibly void your warranty.
Doesn't sound like a good plan to me.

I have one on my 2020 and the biggest thing I noticed is when the exhaust brake is engaged it’s significantly louder. Normal driving it’s not really a huge difference but if you really want to notice it you can. When I’m hooked to my 5th wheel the intake makes you smile every time I lift off the throttle. This is the trailer I pull so the brake is a huge part of my drive

 

You'll definitely hear it a little more with an S & B, especially if you take the side plug out that does not effect filtering but will only allow warmer air to enter the system.

 

The last true turbo sound from a stock truck was my early build 99’. One of the first Super Duty trucks built.
Actual turbo whistle under power from the charge side like one would expect from a big rig..
Ford redesigned the blades for job 2 99’ and that was it. Now, you can get a little sound from the exhaust side if you delete, but nothing like the 99’.

 

I put one on mine.When I first did it,it was very noticeable.Not LOUD,but just different sounding than the stocker.Just a nice low suction sound.Now that I'm used to it,it is not as noticeable,but I can kinda make it rumble a little at the right throttle application.
