King Ranch Leather

I’ve heard different reports that the leather seats in the King Ranch require special treatment to keep them in. proper condition. It’s my understanding that recently Ford changed the type of leather and/or coating on the seats? Anyway, bottom line question do I need any kind of special product or to do anything different for the KR seats?

Can't imagine they need anything more or different than any of the other leathers seats in any Ford truck.
But, I'll swap you my Lariat interior for your KR interior if you're really worried about it!

I'm pretty sure all of the leather seating options have a coating on them that negates the need for 'special care'. So that the seats last longer, with less maintenance. Conditioner seems to do precisely jack for both of my newer vehicles with leather seats. It may not last when neglected, but the non modified with leather feels way better to me.

I’ve seen some earlier MY trucks that looked almost like saddle leather in the KR trim….

They changed the KR leather seat to the coated version over 10 years ago. The only thing you need to clean them with is a damp cloth. Many use various leather conditioners but they don’t do anything to the seat except make it smell like leather.

KR leather

My 2014 KR had saddle leather. I was told that regular leather treatments might look uneven, so I ordered leather treatment directly from KR.

I believe the KR leather treatment kept my seats soft.

Love KR interiors.

Correct. The older seats were open pore leather that required conditioning to stay soft -- like saddles, expensive shoes, etc. They were pretty maintenance intensive. The newer ones are sealed leather like most leather interiors for common cars. For sealed leather, the conditioners and such don't do anything at all ... as the seats are sealed. Leather isn't open pore either to dry out or to accept lotions and conditioners. Just use 303 or something else to protect the sealant/coating on the leather's surface.

You don't need to do anything to condition or protect automotive leather. A damp rag for cleaning is sufficient. You want to minimize residues because this makes dirt stick, and dirt acting as an abrasive is the worst thing for coated leather.
