Odd Request-Advice if you will

So I have been around vintage Fords for all of my life, and really dug in when I acquired my 68 F100 from my Uncle after my mother passed in 2018. Working on that truck with my dad has provided some great memories(akin to him building a 31 Model A and 40 Tudor Deluxe with his dad in the early 80s) and I’ve since acquired my 77 F150 and most recently, a 67 Mustang Coupe. This forum has been a blessing, with a lot of really knowledgeable members who are a wealth of information. I don’t post a great deal, but spend lots of time reading through threads, gleaning a goldmine of information about the 67-72s, and 73-79s. The engagement from members here is great, and the BS you see on a lot of forums is minimal, at worst. Does anyone have any recommendations for a mustang forum that has the same qualities FTE does? I know there are a ton of them out there, just don’t want to waste my time joining a place and engaging when I’m am going to be disappointed. I figure there are folks on here that also own Mustangs so thought it would be a good place to ask. I apologize if it’s against guidelines or what not, so feel free to move it, just looking for some advice from folks who seem to have experience of what a good forum is. Thanks in advance. Here’s a picture of my 68 in its current state . Too many projects!

This one is part of Internet Brands, the same company behind FTE.

I do not have any experience other than a couple sample looks with them, as my '65 hardtop went down the road in '81 and I barely knew my '66 FB in the few months I had it in '86.

https://mustangforums.com/forum/index.php

Try just asking your question via google or other fine search. You will be led to various forums in most cases and can get a sample of what they are all about without joining.

As for Mustangs, there is overlap to other models on some drive train items. Once you get into Mustang only items, then the forum becomes more important.

Good luck!

Appreciate the reply, that was the forum that looked the same as FTE so I figured it was in some way related. Google searches typically turn up a bunch of forums that posts seem to be 10-15 years old, and a lot of pissing matches, for lack of a better phrase. Honestly, what I am looking for is not really mustang related, as they are very simple cars and not too technically demanding. I am building a 351C for the car and am really at a dead end about which way to go in regards to cylinder head/piston/cam selection to get the performance I want to achieve without the headaches associated with the open chamber/closed chamber, 2v/Aussie3v/4V debate. Know there are some folks who run this engine in bumps and dents, but a 4500lb truck and a 2800lb car are different entities. Just needing some real world experiences before I sink money into working(valves and machining for rocker studs) on 2v heads versus spending the money on aluminum’s that are cheaper than closed chambers factory castings these days.

FWIW: Build a 351W, use aftermarket heads, and make it a 393 if you want.

The C engines are more expensive to deal with.

Swerving suggestion.

Check out these forums--lots of 302/351W talk, not so much the 351C.

Even at that, there are 351C posts,

Use the advanced search to find "351C" in the 335 engine forum. It will bring up more hits--at least that type of search works for me on a regular basis.

Good luck!

Go to Facebook group 'Clevelands Forever-351C.net' A lot of good guys on there and plenty of Australian influence. Good youtube videos for 351C are by the Brisbane Brothers from Australia. I have a 351C in my 67' Cougar so I use them for support and questions too.

Yeah I get the "just build a Windsor" a lot. I know it would be significantly cheaper, but I've already got the Cleveland and parts. Everyone puts a 302/347/351W in a Mustang and I just want something a little different, and really like the Cleveland. Thanks for that link, I know there used to be a 351C.net forum, as you can still find archived posts, but seems the main site is down. Don't do facebook, but may have to look into it for that purpose.

Build your Cleveland.

Cleveland is the engine that dominated super stock all through the 70s and early 80s, basis of a bunch of NASCAR iterations, was the top end that created the legendary "Boss 302", and the engine that roush and Yates built thier empire from. Fastest muscle car of 1971 was supposedly the "Boss 351" Cleveland, and it's bigger more sluggish cousin, the 351M/400 carried millions of cars and trucks dependably and reliably through 1982, and many of those are still on the road today.

What does a 351 Windsor have to offer? Well, you could get a roller block for about a half dozen years and parts are cheaper.

Dollar for dollar and pound for pound, you'll make more HP and TQ with a Cleveland.

A Cleveland or well built M motor is more than sufficient to move a 4500 truck quite nicely. I built a 408 out of a 351M with a bunch of Cleveland parts after hearing "460! Coyote! Cummins!" all thread long, and I do not regret it. It's a beast, it's reliable and I did it for cheap.

People who don't understand Clevelands are the first to tell you to go Windsor or 460. These were purpose built race engines that were detuned for the street, then further detuned to meet smog and passenger car/truck laws and guidelines. This said, it doesn't take much (not as much as a Windsor) to get a ton of power out of them.

Build your Cleveland. You'll be glad you did.

Good luck
