Buy a decent, modern, F250 with a 6.2 L. Sell it when you are finished with your construction project.
Try to use a 45+ year old truck like you want to, you'll spend all your time working on it, rather than on your goal, the construction project. Buy something modern, you'll never need to work on it, it will do what you want with ease, & in much greater comfort & safety. Modern trucks are generally so reliable there is nothing to fear when it comes to the fuel injected drivetrain, & the rest of the vehicle. Brakes & tires will be your expense.

To me intermittent wipers, cruise control, defrost and A/C, maybe some lumbar support, and a proper sound system and I'm properly modernized.
