+1 on what SFaulken said. 1987-1996 F150s share a good majority of drivetrain (engine, transmission and transfercase), interior, HVAC, cooling, and electrical parts. The major deviation in F150 and F250 are in suspension and axles. The other major changes are a few mechanical, fuel system and body updates in 1992. So if you're having an issue with say, your AC in your F250, it is worth while to look at discussions about AC systems in F150 & F350 trucks in the same 1987 - 1996 window (you'll also occasionally see 1997 F250HD & F350, but they're less common).
Additionally, Ford is infamous for using the same parts in other vehicles. So for most motor issues, you can also look in the E-series van forums, as they use nearly identical powertrain as the trucks.
Also, I would avoid using anything to pinch hoses shut, especially while driving. You may wear through the hose and then you'll have bigger issues.
