But the good news is that the ride difference between the F-250 and the F-350 is close to zero. My stock shocks were bad enough that my wife noticed and authorized an upgrade. The Rancho 9000XL shocks are working well.
Agree, when test driving last year, I noticed the 250 was a better ride over the 350 until I reduced the rear air pressure from 80 to 60 then it was very close comparison. The 350 is what I ended up with with the 6.2 and 10R140 and 4.3 gears. I plan on a slide in or travel trailer but for now i drive around with a tool box and bed empty 1/2 the time, the other 1/2 I pull a 15K dump trailer and I have hills here and so glad I opted for the 4.3 gears. This thing is a beast with a trailer loaded up heavy with those gears and with 3 overdrive gears the 4.3s can settle down for some good over all fuel economy when cruising empty.. I stayed away from the 7.3 because it was new when I bought my 2020. You really can these days have your cake and eat it too. So many combos available. Having a complete love affair with this rugged 10R140 transmission when it is in the tow mode pulling heavy and hitting every gear it performs so well.

Slight derail, but this is why I came over to Ford from GM. In a gas HD, GM offers one engine, behind one transmission, along with only one ratio. No cake at GM...not even any soup.
F350 XL SCLB STX 4X2 7.3 10spd 3.73 w/locker. Invoice pricing, plus $2000 direct cash offer = $44,156 OTD Scheduled build week 9/20 …we’ll see. Not fancy, but functional. Perfect for a Retiree that’s dragging a 30ft TT around America.

Thank you for the response. But I have to ask, it's been a while, but last I looked there wasn't but 400-ish lbs more GVWR with the F350 SWD vs. F250. This has me hung up. Still true?
Typical GVWR of the F-250 and F-350 is 10,000 and 11,500, respectively. That can increase depending up upon the configuration of the truck, but only the diesel equipped trucks get that increase.
Hopefully I attached the link correctly from the 2022 towing guide, which shows the range of GVWR based on configurations.
My 350 4x2 SCLB w/7.3 gas defaults to 10,900 ... I chose the 10K GVWR pkg to lower registration cost etc. ..but when the dealer corrected my initial order, he missed it.
I decided to live with it @ 10,900 (fees in TX are low, so no major issue there)
Ordering today, (if I get off work on time) ... Setup: towing 8k-9k 30ft. TT, 10 month season, moving once a week-ish. Tongue wt. is a factor @ #1200-ish, unhooked fuel economy is a factor,
ride quality for my "cruise director" is a factor,
I've resolved everything else regarding configuration and options, but am getting an ulcer over the following choices. 1. F-250 4x2 STX SCLB 7.3 w/4.30 MSRP $47,521 OTD 2. F-350 4x2 STX SCLB 7.3 w/3.73 MSRP $48,361 OTD
and a distant 3rd choice 3. F-350 4x4 STX SCLB6.2 3.73LS MSRP $49,519 OTD
The floor is yours.................
So.. not to be a wet blanket here, but towing configuration that you are working with above is what I tow. (32' TT, 1k tongue weight) I tow with a '98 F250 4x4 SuperCab. 4.6L with 3.73 gear ratio and normally have a tall topper on the truck to break up the wind on the front of the trailer. I run 10 ply tires at 45/60 psi. The 4.6 is of course not going to win any land-speed records, but pulls well even with a trailer this large. The truck has what I'd call a lively ride when the tires are up, but it also delivers 17.4 mpg when not connected to the trailer. The 3.73 gears are fine when towing.
My brother just purchased the new F250 with the 7.3 and the 3.73 gears and pulls a skid loader/ trailer combo of about 14k. That truck is amazing and it rides really nice also. It delivers great mileage and pulls extremely well. That is what I'd go with of your choices above.
You really think the 4.30 behind a 10 sp will make that big a difference over 3.73? If so, I'll choose the 250, and the extra leaf spring will be the trade off.
The 4.30 gearing will produce roughly 15% more power at the wheels vs. the 3.73 gears. It isn't always needed, but 15% more power is almost always more smiles.
