Digital fuel gage

Maybe there's a better forum for this but the 92 has a new fuel pump but the gage still bounces around. Looking to put an aftermarket digital gage in. Any recomendations? I found one that has an ohm setting of 16-158. I've read that the pumps sending unit range is Empty Stop 15 Ohms (Below E)
Empty 22.5 Ohms
Full 145 Ohms
Full Stop 160 Ohms (Above Full)
Does it sound like this would work or would it need to be 22-145?

The problem isn't really the gauge in the dash, it is just a reflection of the sender bouncing around. Ford made a anti slosh module to modulate the raw signal to alleviate this issue in other models, and it can be added to your cluster. If you tie a digital gauge to the factory sender it will bounce around too unless you do something to stop the gas sloshing around or modulate the signal generated by the level sender.

Also, to be clear, the level sender is attached to the pump, but they are two separate parts. Replacing the pump does nothing to fix a bad sender unless the sender was replaced or repaired at the same time. There are some that are sold as a preassembled unit, but they are also sold separately.

It was all one unit and tested before installed. I've googled this module. All the videos are people whos gage only goes up to half a tank. This gage seems to have full range but jumps all over the place . I've never had another vehicle whos gas gage moved up and down so much. So is this module supposed to prevent that and keep the gage reading smooth?

I doubt you have THAT big of an issue with slosh
1)did the previous fuel pump have a bouncy needle?
2) doesi t bounce when not moving or constant speed with no accel or deccel
3) does it happen key on, engine off,
4) if it was on previous one, look at cluster grounds or the wiring integrity from the sender. its possibly short to power or ground(idk, is the wire for fuel level a ground wire?, if so insulation may be broke giving a alternate path intermittent)
5) if constant, may be gauge itself
6) if it was on previous one(2), you unlikely had a bad sender on old one, then on new sender.... but possible.. still, check what you have in between these and the power/ground for your dash cluster, iudk if the switch for tanks affects this directly but look at that too

My experience has been that in the in the stock configuration, the needle will move if the gas has any reason to slosh around in the tank. The fuller the tank the less pronounced the movements, and as the level drops the needle swings get worse. If yours swings around wildly when it is full or when not in motion then I think you have other issues.

likewise. I assume the gauge is just raw off the sender, no filter like a lot of modern cars since the early 90s have had(note, trucks got the "luxury" amenities a bit later, generally.) i know there is the slosh module, i am not sure if that is for a certain year or engine or tank design, but some like it i suppose. I never noticed enough variance to be an issue, but Im not sure if my sender is completely free moving or maybe it has dead spots on the wiper, idk. but it goes down fast the first half, slows kinda(It appears, but i think this is just visual trick) then it sloshes in braking and accel but it stays normal when just moving normal

on my park avenue both the fuel gauge and the gas gauge have "filters" which are electronically dampened outputs from the IPC circuitry taken from the data supplied to it via discreet wiring and class 2 from the PCM, the data updates fast and the gauge would be of concern to people if it was bobbing that quickly, so the result is a smooth slowly varying gauge but thats a luxury car lol

The needle on my ‘89 does not swing up and down on either tank. The ‘94 Bronco also never had an issue with the gauge. There is something else going on downstream of the gauge.
