My understanding is if you have sync 4 and the new 12" screen then you have enhanced voice recognition. Im not sure what the difference is between the previous version and the EVR version.
If that is indeed what it stands for, all it really means is that the SYNC 4 system will be able to understand voice commands better…….nothing more and nothing less.
It’s not like Siri, Google, or Amazon Echo.
Besides, the vast majority of people will probably use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto so the EVR in SYNC 4 will be rendered useless.

Why would carplay/android auto render it useless???
If you use the voice text ability or any of the other voice commands the system is capable of, even doing voice commands in carplay and android auto, then enhanced voice recognition will be plenty useful.

I understand what you’re saying but you’re looking at it the wrong way.
There wasn’t anything wrong with the voice recognition when using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
EVR is to improve SYNC and SYNC “only” voice commands because this has been a problem with SYNC every since SYNC 3 hit the market.
EVR is not going to enhance or change anything with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto because there’s no problem with their voice commands when using their interface.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I use steering wheel activated voice commands with Android Auto all the time and I always thought Sync was handling those. I don't have anything solid to back that up though, so maybe you're right?

If you are using Android auto then Google is handling the voice commands as a extension of the APP. The Sync Commands were updated and listed as EVR for 22+. This is not the same Sync 4 connected platform that is in use in the F-150, Mach E or Bronco. The connected Sync 4 is expected to hit the SD at the next refresh cycle.

So far I've only experienced Sync 3 in my 2017 Escape. My 2022 F-250 Lariat will have the Sync 4 interface. Also interesting that I recently read that Ford is ditching Sync (Microsoft) in the next few years and partnering with Google.

The Sync 3 commands are handled by Android Auto while connected. Ford also ditched Microsoft in 2015 with the Sync2 system. As For Ford and Google that is already in play for the next 6 years since February. It is for the cloud connectivity and AI features to start and will probably evolve over time. https://media.ford.com/content/fordm...nnovation.html
