2021 F-150 Supercab 5.0L 36 gal gas tank. When I open the door first thing in the morning I have a very noticeable (what sounds like a fuel pump) noise coming from the direction of the fuel tank. Is this normal? I never heard it with my 2011 F-150 regular cab 5.0L 36 gal fuel tank equipped truck.
I don't know why Ford went to a different fuel pump strategy. Would be interesting to know. Probably happened around 2018 when the engine got a bunch of updates, although that's just a guess on my part.
Accepted. But wondering why my 2011 did not make that noise… essentially the same setup…
The two trucks have nothing in common, the entire drivetrain and fuel system is different. The engines are not even related and the 2021 has 16 fuel injectors and two split fuel systems. The noise is normal an is found on most vehicles that have direct injection.
I just assume Ford did this for the people that swiftly insert the key and start it in one motion. I notice the sound very clearly on my 2019 3.5 when I open the driver's door.
