Food for thought. If there really was THAT much oil being ingested into the engine to cause the amount of smoke you describe exiting the tailpipe, I'm surprised the engine didn't run away on you. The oil residue on the outside of the engine at the passenger side rear, I suspect is oil that leaked through the downpipe to turbo connection as already mentioned previously. This is very consistent with your finding of the downpipe being wet on the inside. To remove any suspicion you may have, about intake air being contaminated with with engine oil, you can simply remove the intake elbow on the cold side CAC pipe and have a look/see inside the intake for wetness/excess oil. It is literally only four 8mm bolts and 11mm nut on the clamp away from removal. But once again, if the engine were to ingest anything other just intake air (that is combustible like engine oil), your engine would have ran away.

I pulled the elbow off and it looked brand new inside the intake, not a drop of oil. So this goes back to the turbo. My understanding is the "seals" inside are just some metal rings that dont fully seal, they just channel the oil to go over the bushings and then then drain into the oil drain tube...If i'm correct, how would those metal ring seals fail and allow oil to go past them and into the down pipe? Would failure mean i might have some chunks of metal floating around inside the turbo ? Should I pull the turbo apart? Sorry for all the questions, I normally don't do much repairs myself, but my mechanic cannot look at the truck for a few more days and being without a vehicle since saturday has really helped my shade tree mechanic abilities lol. I appreciate all the help.

Watch these vids. I have never done one myself, but they seem to be fairly straight forward. B.
