On hunt for 3” WDH. Bulletproof sway control coming this fall.
Oops, the title to this thread should say "Bulletproof weight distribution coming this fall" ) I sent an email to Bulletproof to see when their WDH adapters will be ready. I also contacted Equalizer, Blue Ox and Weigh Safe to find out if they will be manufacturing a 3” shank in the near future. So far Bulletproof responded stating they’re coming out with their own WD setup. They said in most cases a WDH isn’t necessary. Here is what they wrote:
Good Morning,
Thank you for contacting us! Our BulletProof Weight Distribution Adaptor is currently unavailable however, BulletProof Hitches will be releasing their very own weight distribution system this fall. In most cases, the weight distribution system is not required for a successful tow. Our technical team recommends a sway control system + airbags (if experiencing significant squat once you attach your trailer). If you are experiencing the front of your vehicle being lifted (as seen below) then a weight distribution system may be required.

Below I have included the link to our Sway Control System for your reference. Please note you will also need to have our Sway Control Dual Ball to be able to connect your Sway Control Systems. Our Sway Control Dual Ball can be purchased as an upgrade option when purchasing one of our BulletProof Hitches

I asked Blue Ox the same question four years ago. Good thing I didn't wait for them and went with Andersen instead.
I'm not impressed with Bulletproof's sway control solution. I'm also not impressed with their response that weight distribution isn't needed. My truck drives a lot better when the weight is put back on the front axle. That weight distribution is all part of the whole WDH package that includes sway control.

I think the Gen Y sells an adapter for a WDH like Bulletproof does.

Their 4" drop shank has no gusset. The 8" drop shank does have a gusset. My experience is that the 4" shank should have a gusset also.

I think I'll need an 8" drop, or in my case a rise. The trailer coupler sits at close to 35". I'll know more when I actually have the truck to take measurements off of.
