I just bought my F350 and was replacing the tires. I bought 7, but we couldn’t drop the spare. It has a key. There should have been a card with a code in the glovebox. No such luck. The dealership asked for 1700 for a replacement kit, cutting and welding. Getting to the spare is not worth 1700. There has to be a workaround,
Did you by chance check in the bag for the jack/jug nuts to see if the previous user placed the lock in it? It is behind the drivre side seat, (front/rear seat depending on your cab model).
There are several videos on YouTube that detail how to work around this.
Basically, you put a specific size socket on a long extension and tap it on with a hammer.
Once you have the tire down, you can pull the plastic tube and tap off the key fitting from behind.
Then you just operate with a stock tool (sans the key)
I had the same problem and this worked for me. After you get the spare down pull the plastic tube away from the tire winch and you will see that the female part of the key will pull out of the winch and at that point you can replace it if you want or just leave it out and use it without a key. I chose to use it without a key.

BWAHHHHH, you tried that BS? I have NEVER found this magical socket that fit over that GD lock. I even got Nut extractors for rounded nuts. You have to stick a pipe over the rail and against that lock and hit it with a hammer and knock that thing out of the way. Then put your square drive jack tool shaft in the bumper hole/plastic tube and pray the winch still works and it lowers down. IF it does come down, drop to your knees and thank God, then grease the ever loving bejesus out of the mechanism and the wire rope. NEVER put that lock back in. If someone needs your spare that bad it has to be another super duty and lets all share amongst.
I used the socket method and got the tire down enough that I could get in their with a pair of channel-locks and drop it the rest of the way. I don't remember what size it was, but I do remember it was a 12 point and an odd size.
