So while removing the #8 coil pack bolt (Drivers side all the way in the back) it snapped off. I can tell that it did NOT break blow the surface by the length of the broken bolt so could I put 2 jam nuts on it and carefully work the broken bolt out? Has anyone tried other methods? Not much room to work back in that tight spot.
There's no magic solution for getting broken bolts out. Do anything and everything you can. It has to come out. I would soaking it with some penetrating oil first to help loosen it up.
The bolt that holds the COP on ? I don't think you even need that. The COP ain't going anywhere . I have left some loose and never had a problem.
Good Luck
Thanks for all the replies. I ended up not using the bolt because it snaped off flush with the intake so no way to get it out. I just pushed the coil pack on like a spark plug boot and all is good.
I've seen guys wedge a piece of rubber between the top of the CP and the fuel rail to keep it in place too.
For future reference you could drill a hole into the bolt and use a machine screw or tap a smaller screw into it just to grip it enough to use the procedure above.
I had this happen on one of mine.
I drilled and tapped a new hole a little to the side of the old hole.
Install the coil pack a little rotated from the original position, and it's probably been 100k miles since then.
I tried drilling and using an easy out, but the drill bit broke off in the old bolt, and I gave up.
Honestly, they'll probably stay connected without the bolts, but vibration and movement may shorten the life of them.
