F250 Super Duty Powerstoke. I am getting a squeeking to scrapping sound when ever I go over a speed bump or just bumps or waves in the road. When going over a speed bump slow, you notice it only comes from the front. When the back wheel come over the bump you hear nothing. It reminds me of a bad shock, but if you stand on the front bumper and try to rock the truck, you get no sound. Any ideas??
the little pads inbetween the leaves of the pack wear out and sqeak. the dealer has better ones to replace them with. thats what it sounds like to me, i have done exactly what you describe and thats what fixed it.
Thanks for the reply. I looked at it and I think I see what you are talking about. On the front leaves, there are only two. Threre is a very thin (1/8") looking pad about six inches long inbetween the two leafs in the center where they touch each other. Does this sound like what you told me to look at.
there are pads at the ends of the leaves.. look where the one end of the bottom leaf meets the top one, there is a pad there because when compressed the ends of the shorter leaf when compressed will rub on the top leaf, so there are noise pads there to help with the squeak, but the factory one wore out quick to ford has better ones to replace them with. there are two of these pads per leaf pack on front, one is on the front edge the other on the back edge about 2x2" square plastic, or roundish depending on year. very thin also. let me know if this makes any since, kinda confusing myself here!
Did you replace these yourself or take it in? I have the same problem. Frod just did the left side last month and the right side is doing it now. If you did, are there any special tools involved?

I finally crawled under and took a look. I see exactly what you are talking about. I do have the white plastic pieces at each end of each spring. I cant really tell if they are worn out. How do you tell. They also look as if they would be kinda hard to replace. What do you think.
I got a different reply that stated to jack the truck up and put stands under it so the tires hang free. This will seperate the springs. A screw driver can be used to pry them apart enough to get the plastic pieces out. I am going to try it this weekend.
