thanks Mark. I can monitor the engine coolant. the engine oil temp isn't showing as an available value I can monitor.
do you know if the early 2003, 6.0, engines have the engine oil temp sensor?
Is there a list of what I should be able to monitor, even with a different app (currently I have Torque Pro)?

Sorry - I meant oil temp. All 6.0's have that sensor and Torque can retrieve that in all 6.0's.

I would give you the programming for it, but have a computer glitch at the moment.

thank you Mark.
After seeing your response, I dug into Torque Pro and found the Engine Oil Temp PID under the Manage Custom extra PIDs/Sensors for the Ford PowerStroke.
I didn't understand the additional menus had additional available data points for specific vehicles.
I'm a newbie, but trying to read all you guys put on here.
Thanks again.

BTW- I took it out for a drive and my Engine Oil Temp got up to 196F with a Coolant Temp of 187F.
After a bunch of reading, hopefully I've got the early 2003 engine oil cooler (sounds like the better one). And the vehicle tab has an assy date of 1/03.

Actually the early oil coolers weren't the good ones. An additional cooling row was added after 2006 (don't recall exactly when), and I think International/Ford beefed up the cooler because of all the failures. They just didn't want to acknowledge the reliability improvements because it might mean they were liable for the failures.

But you do have the early, cylindrical EGR cooler. It's the better one that doesn't fail a lot. Maybe that's what you were referring to

After reading multiple threads I was thinking there were a couple versions of the engine oil cooler in 2003; the early one less prone to getting plugged with debris.
Sounds like I was wrong and there's a couple versions of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler. I'll have to go look for it and see which version (cylindrical or ????) I have.
Too many acronyms to get familiar with, but I've got time.
thanks for the clarification Bryan.

2003 to early 2004 engines without the ICP sensor on the passenger valve cover came with the round EGR cooler; the only other version was with the 2004.5+ engines, the square cooler.

The oil cooler also came in two versions, the same up to about 2006.5, and now the only one available from Ford/Nav with the extra plate.
