2000 E150 rear differential interchange

I have a 2000 Ford e150 conversion Van that needs a new rear differential. What year are interchangeable? I found a 2005 but it has disc brakes where I have drum, are the Masters cylinders the same? It's an 8.8 with 355 gears non-limited slip.

That will bolt in but I don't know about the MC, wouldn't surprise me if it is different.

It would be easy to find out on the master cylinders, just do a web search on the different years and compare part numbers.

I think there may be other issues to overcome also. The E brake will be different, the ABS box may be different, so there may be some consequential things to over come. See how much more it will cost to get all components for the changeover if this is coming from a wrecking yard.

Did some homework on rock auto and the master cylinders are different for disc and drum. So it looks like I'll stick with the drum brakes. Also as pointed out above the E brake will be different also. Not worth the hassel. So I'm figuring 2000ish to maybe 2003. When did Ford go disk breaks in the rear?
Anyone have access to to an interchange manual/program?

I don't known what size engine is in your van but my old 88 e150 has a 5.0 in it and a 4 speed aod transmission. I rebuilt the differential and replaced the 3.55 gears with 3.73's. That made a noticeable difference without sacrificing much fuel mileage. Before I would loose speed pulling long uphill grades on the interstate and wind up downshifting to maintain speed. Now with the 3.73's I can maintain speed on the same uphill grades with the same load. You notice a difference at first in that the van is a bit more peppier you might say. but then it fades away to just the slow turtle these vans are! It also made a slight difference in towing 3 or 4k lb loads.

2000 was the last year of drum brakes on the E-Series but even then some of that year would have received the disc brake set up. I too have a 2000 with drum brakes and the van was built in 08 of 1999 which technically is the first half of the model year.
