I have a 2000 Ford van e150 van with a 3.31/8.8 rear end that I want to replace, what other year of van will fit my 2000 e150 as I can’t find the same year used for sale, can you help me?
The same 8.8 axle was used in the E150 from about 1991 to about 2010, and somewhere in the last 2-3 years of that period disc brakes were added, those would be a nice upgrade but other parts are required to get them working in your truck so it's not a direct swap. These axles were available with gear sets ranging from 3.08 to 4.10 and if your truck has one of the smaller motors consider getting a lower gear(numerically higher) for better performance and better overall fuel economy.
Also depends on what the tire diameter is too. Taller the tire, the lower the numerical ratio is at the pavement.
Yeah if you can tuck 33" tires in you'll want 3.73, that requires a lift for 1/2 ton, I see guys doing it with the 250 and 350, looks good, tho steering can be an issue, I was looking at a dually rear, wanted it to put in my E350, then I found it was a 4.63, way too low.
