I've had my 2012 F250 Lariat crew cab for 3 years. It's an import into Australia, converted to RHD by Harrison F Trucks.Recently the control for the telephone on the CD stacker/radio stopped working. At the same time the 3 steering wheel controls "Voice"; telephone & "OK" all stopped working. (Note the other steering wheel controls Seek; Volume and Media are all still working fine.)
Of course this means i can't even open the menu for Bluetooth. It's like SYNC and its associated functions have just disappeared from the menu.
After reading as many Forums & watching Youtube clips as i could I have been unable to diagnose the issue or hear about another example like mine.
So i tried:
(1) Pull out the SYNC fuse & replace - NO IMPACT
(2) Disconnect both batteries, drain any residual power by turning headlights on, reconnect batteries - NO IMPACT
(3) Remove the steering wheel control and check connection / wires - ALL LOOKS OK AND I ASSUME IT'S NOT THE CONTROL PACK AS THE OTHER BUTTONS FOR SEEK, VOLUME AND MEDIA CONTINUE TO WORK FINE
(4) Assume (without having removed the steering wheel) that the clockspring is ok? - ASSUMPTIONS BASED ON FACT SEEK, VOLUME, MEDIA, CRUISE CONTROL AND 'ARROWS' ALL WORK FINE.
What else can be checked by a novice (me) ?
Can SYNC just die and if it does, whats the part that needs to be replaced?
Appreciate any advice as we are very short of knowledgeable people to work on our F Trucks here in Aussie.
Many thanks.
If you haven't fix it yet, my SYNC module just up and quit on day. After a bunch of research I ordered a new one and replaced it myself. It has been working fine now.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the post, good to hear you were able to fix your issue. Is the SYNC module an expensive item to replace?
I ended up buying it from the US because it was less expensive than in Canada. There is a core charge on the old module and they wanted my VIN to program new one. Sent them my old one and they returned the core charge.
Ended up costing me around $650 CAD and locally from the dealer would have been $1000+. The swap was quite easy.
thanks leadmic,
It's only the phone that is not working. Volume controls for radio etc are ok. Makes me think the clockspring must be ok and more likely the SYNC module is at fault......
