Died at 75 mph
I was on 75 heading to the U.P. we just left a rest area and had the cruise set at 75 for a mile or 2 when the truck died.
There was no signs of trouble before hand and its currently sitting at my buddies shop a ½ mile from my house. (After a 13 hour ordeal including a 200 mile tow)
After announcing my frustration, on another thread i posted about doing a coolant flush, Smackdaddy reached out to me and has been helping/encouraging me along. What a guy!!
The oil pressure gauge on the dash shows nothing while cranking, using an X4, ICP duty cycle is .84, injector control pressure took 10 seconds of cranking to get to .05
After pulling the Low Pressure oil relief valve, behind the harmonic balancer, it appears that the plunger is stuck but there isnt any visible scoring or metal shavings in oil, i will do a better check on the shavings in a few minutes when i go back with a clean container.
Will a stuck plunger on the relief valve kill this thing at highway speeds? Any and all input is much appreciated
TIA Marf
Do you have the 6.0 manual? It shows the low oil pressure regulator, and how it goes in.
The bore in the front cover is aluminum, while the regulator is steel. These usually aren't problematic tho.
Maybe a problem with the low pressure oil pump.
