From personal experience this is a relatively common problem. The wires in that harness, in my opinion, were undersized for the amperage draw required. I've seen three that were damaged exactly as you described.
The last one I fixed by finding a decent plug in the junkyard, I know, not an option for you, and reuilding the harness.
I basically just used the plastic shells and used new terminals with heavier gauge wire. This solved my problem.
Is that from the Blower switch? Mine was melted in the same way though the blower itself is in good shape and does not draw too much current. I used insulated single connectors and removed the melted plastic connector.

Yeah, I had this idea as well....just thought I'd see if the actual connector was reproduced first. I guess, I'll be buying some of these spade connectors.

The one wire that is frayed/got hot looks pretty heavy. It probably frayed and came into contact with some metal and then melted the connector. PO just taped it up and called it good. I was actually looking into why my fan only blew on low when I found the melted connector. I cleaned up the switch internally and hit the connector with some contact spray.....my fan now blows on all speeds, so THAT'S something.
if you are trying to keep things original I can’t comment on a source though.
I'm going for as original as possible within the constraints of my budget! I actually have some of those or something similar, but they won't hook up to the back of my fan speed selector switch. I'll just get some insulated spade connectors. Thanks for the idea though.
