looking for some info
Truck is in decent shape and i picked it up for 1200.
Sorry no pictures yet as i am waiting on delivery.
motor not locked up i did check.
1 is how can i tell which engine it is as it is not original. Inline 6 with bolts going down threw valve cover lip and a weird looking fuel pump with a thread on can. intake and exhaust are on passenger side If that helps.
2 is this a 6 volt or 12 volt system so i can get proper battery.
3 how hard to put power brakes and power steering on this.
I cant wait till it gets here to start all the checks . i wanted something my wife and i could cruise to shows in and i finally found it.
does not look as though it will need alot to be road ready.
Thanks for any help Jeff Mc
All of our trucks used a 12 volt negative ground system
Power brakes are achieved by using a vacuum booster. Do you want to stay with the stock drum/drum brakes front and rear or upgrade those to disc at the same time. For a drum/drum system the single diaphragm boosters are a better choice while any others are best with a dual diaphragm. Type of booster and master if changing to a disc/drum system is important.
Power steering is a bit more complicated. The original Gemmer steering shaft extends into the gear box and has an external housing that the shaft is encompassed in. Electric power steering might be a simpler way to go than trying to find a new steering gear, column, pump with brackets and hoses, extra pulley groove to run the pump, etc.
