I'll try to keep this initial post brief, and hope one of yall can help and/or can point me in a direction.
I've had my X for about a year. 05, Diesel, has about 62k miles right now. It's always been a little slow to start but has been intermittently worse. Lately, takes a bit of churning before firing up. I took it to O'Reilly and had it tested. My assumption had been the batteries needed to be replaced. Batteries and starter came back fine, alternator read bad.
Ok, so I changed the alternator...no improvement. In fact it may be worse. I returned to the store where the alternator tested bad again. After removing the alternator and having it tested off the truck, it tested good. So here I am.
Before I begin randomly replacing everything related to starting the truck, has anyone seen this before?
You need to research the tech folder at the top of this page. With a 6.0 you need to get a scanner or some way to watch a few parameters and go from there. If you keep guessing and throwing parts at it you might end up replacing everything but the actual part or parts that are causing the issue.
