Previous Owner installed a BD Engine Brake Controller, but I understood this functions by opening and closing the EBPV, but my truck has the TP38 non-ebpv turbo... so what is it controlling for engine brake? Is it just locking and unlocking the Torque converter?
Also, in the second picture, what is this supposed to be plugged into? I dont have any codes except P0470, which I am going to clean the exhaust bp tube.
Look further down the exhaust. My truck had one too at some point. Valve was gone but could see where the wiring led and a fresh piece of exhaust in a spot just behind where the cat should've been.
Your truck does have the stock EBPV. See the round piece sticking up right before the downpipe? That is part of it. It is nothing big and cool like a real exhaust brake.

Ill go back and check in the morning and see an actuator or wires running to that.
yea, it seem like it does control the TC at certain speeds as per the instruction for that. But Ill check more under the hood to find that EBPV and if it has any wiring back to this controller.
Get me wiring locations, I am pretty good with this stuff.
Did some searching.
1st picture is of the BD Engine Brake Controller under the dash - Green, Blue and Pink wire labeled "E" go through firewall, the yellow goes to the gas pedal "connector" and Red goes to something else that I dont know what it is.
2nd pic are the 3 wires, Pink, Blue, Green - Pink has a butt connector which continues, blue/green go to the brake reservoir harness.
3rd picture where the red wire connects into a connector, which was unplugged.
4th/5th picture - of Turbo which does not have a EBPV anywhere. Nothing down the down pipe, Cat is eliminated.
It was setup to run on the OE exhaust flapper. It appears you have a delete pedestal and turbine housing adapter. Thus making the kit redundant.
IMO, remove it all and pass it to someone else that needs/wants. Clean up the hacker install with liquid electrical tape.
Yea, That's what I plan to do - remove that BD controller. If you want it, call it.
as for removing the hack splicing, is the plug at the engine and connection just before from the factory harness? Also, Not sure about the brake wiring and what is factory. Any thoughts?
Two pin Weatherpack is for the OE flapper connector. In my thread I show how to depin it from the engine harness to remove it. Same with all the fuel filter bowl wiring.
Other subharness to master cylinder is the safety recall from Ford to prevent a fire.
