Busted a transmission line yesterday and had to have another tow to get it home. I looked this morning and the break was right at where the flexible hose makes a connection. Broke clean off. It appears that the nipple broke right off on the other side of the line. I am just wondering if this is a nightmare to replace......especially if I have to replace both sides of the line? Thanks for any and all responses.
Yeah your other line is also about to fail, see the crack in the compression fitting? One of these was going to let go sooner or later.
As for if it will be a nightmare...I haven't worked on a 6.2 so I really can't say. I remember doing it on a 6.0 and it was almost impossible without tilting the motor in my garage...I ended up making up my own with hi-compression fittings and rubber hydraulic hose between the two steel ends. I sold the truck that way with no leaks.
Well I got the lines replaced. It was not easy since there was little room to work. I don't have a lift or anything like that....not even a garage to work in. I had one stubborn quick connect that wouldn't separate easily, but got the job done.
