I'm posting this here rather than in the general Super Duty area as I'm sure I'll get a better response.....
Could someone please post a picture of the latch that keeps the case secure, mine has failed & for the life of me, I can't work out what's missing! There's a rod that locates into some kind of jaw, but mine just swings back open, there's no parts laying in the bed, but they could have slipped out of the gap between the bed & the tailgate. TIA Rob
OK the rain has stopped.....
Here's what I have, this is the bracket on the truck.
This is the rod on the Swing case that should latch into the jaw.
And here's the jaw from a different angle, I've contacted the manufacturer about buying a replacement latch, but no response yet. The newer ones have a different latching mechanism with the latch on the case.
If I know what's missing/broken, hopefully I can make something work.....
@mecdac thanks buddy, I can't quite see, but there's some kind of roller catch by the looks of it, if I don't get anything back from the manufacturer I'll see what I can fabricate/buy....
OK thanks guys, I decided to delve a bit deeper & after removing & cleaning thigs up, I was able to find a manufacturer name on the latch Eberhard, a bit more research & I have a part number, Google found me a supplier & I have one ordered now. Bit expensive for what it is but it returns the Swing case to it's original functionality.
I located a supplier for the Eberhard latch, unfortunately for reasons beyond anyone's control the postal system failed to deliver said item, returning it to sender as items under a certain value MUST have taxes & duty pre paid by the seller.....so I got a refund for the purchase price (a few $) but not the shipping cost (alot more $ than the part!) Because the vendor isn't set up for this I had to find another vendor, which proved nearly impossible as the one's I found only accepted US registered cards for payment! I then found a supplier in Australia, part is only a few Au$ & cheap shipping, it should arrive next week!
Why do governments make simple transactions so f##king complex?
Another job ticked off lol!

Rob I fight the same issues as you when getting parts and its frustrating. I have had stuff stuck at customs whilst they verify what it is or if they can charge me extra. Some have been sent back for whatever reason. Others I have had delivered in a week from some place far away with no issue. It's rare but has happened on a few occasions.
What I have noticed is a major jump in shipping cost though , which then leads me to order more stuff to compensate cos I'm paying shipping anyway, better make the most of it. So my order for a CPS starts off cheap then ends up being 1k+ cos why not. I apparently like being broke, or the truck likes me being broke. Not sure which one.

I think it's the governments combining to take away our freewill & hoping to wear us down to submission by taxing the **** out of us.....
The UK is turning into Commiefornia, they're just trying to pass new laws preventing "modifications" to vehicles (original specifications) with specific mention of tampering or removal of emissions/performance stuff & fines/penalties for even advertising suchlike as software/hardware capable of this, even for "offroad" use, this has always been a "get out" for stuff. Yet for years the manufacturers have apparently been doing exactly this to make vehicle emissions appear lower than they really are........
