It is very hard getting names and faces together.
Overall having a great time meeting people and selling my valuable truck parts my wife keeps referring incorrectly to as "junk". Weather has been great, not the normal blistering Iola swap meet heat, hasn't gotten above 80 degrees.
Bob, how are your sales going. Before I left for Carlisle my wife said "don't bring anything back!" Of course that is impossible. But I did sell some stuff I have had since 1999!
I think I did pretty good. I went with $500 in my pocket and left tonight with about $1200. I also spent about $200 for food for.the last three days. Left with about half the stuff I came with which makes me happy 😊.
Hi bob, the bottom photo is 52burjes. I wouldn't want anyone taking the blame for the things that i've done! 😆 I enjoyed meeting and talking with you and stu. That was indeed the largest swap meet i've ever been to. 50 gallons of gas, two nights at the hotel, several dollars spent on meals, and my wife bought 3 sack fulls at the mall in appleton. I didn't find the items I was looking for at the swap, but I did get two "free" hats, a ford hat and a continental tire hat, so I think it was money well spent! Larry
I had a great Iola experience. We arrived and left early on Friday, and the temperatures were probably under 70 the whole time! I found Mark and Stu pretty easily and purchased some parts I'd been looking for. Thanks Mark. Next up was tracking down Bob. Bob had cold refreshments as promised, and it was good connecting with him again. It was good meeting some of the other FTE members pictured as well.
The grand kids kept seeing things they wanted to buy in the swap meet area, so we transitioned to looking at old cars pretty quickly. Saying, "No", is not something that comes naturally to grandparents. The boys like 60's Corvettes and Chevys and enjoyed hunting them out among the other assembled automotive treasures.
After Iola, it was on to the southern part of the state and a garden tractor show. Here too there were many attractive bargains they wanted me to buy--we could easily have come back with any number of old rusty tractor projects that caught their eye and imaginations. Next year my grandsons want to come back to Iola and the tractor show with their own money and a trailer (and their dad) who they think will be easier to deal with when it comes to buying things.
It was a great week-end. We put on over 400 miles driving around the state, spent one night sleeping in the truck, (I was in a tent), and enjoyed two days and nights together that the boys will always remember--and my old truck was the "setting" for our shared adventure.

So either I was too easy on prices or had taken stuff these guys needed. As I walked the field Thursday and Friday I didn’t see any of my stuff set out for resale. So it all went away which was my intent.
I only bought one Motor Wheel Spoksteel 20” for our M-H friend Mark Buck out in Missoula from Craig Hahn, and a set of long arm mirrors from Bob Jones. I came home with more money than I went with, which I’ll call a successful week. Stu

My first year at Ford Carlisle I sold a lot of little NOS stuff to another vendor I met from NC. I am thinking it may have been 40 items. He gave me 6 $100 bills. I know I could have sold them for more over the next several years on ebay but I needed the money then for my trucks. and I knew that I paid very little for the whole lot. So I was happy and he was happy. This year I asked him if he sold all the NOS stuff he bought from me. He said "No. I hasn't even tried yet" .... I said "You have a sickness!" He said "I know I love those little boxes that have FoMoCo on them. It's my passion."
It was good stuff, but not quite God stuff. A 48/50 hood, two 51/52 grilles, stainless 51/52 windshield surround, ‘30s era spare hanger, pair of shock mounts. Bob Jones’ panel truck roof that I gave to Mark, and a 22.5 I traded to Mark. Didn’t take a heck of a lot. Probably had 48-50 stuff crushed I could have sold if I really was so inclined. Already have the list started for next year. Stu
Speaking of, "Good Stuff". Seeing one of these was a highlight for me:
I had one as my first car in college. Mine was white with a light green roof. It was fast--beautiful--and just a little different. A four barrel carb, duel exhaust, swivel bucket seats, and an automatically dimming rear view mirror--What more could a young man need? The example at Iola looked very correct, except for the interior--which was nice, but not redone like the original.
