Hey folks having some issues and before I drop much more money I need another opinion. 2002 f250 with the 4r100 I know it’s not stock it’s painted blue but it won’t shift in drive it will start in 3rd and stay there. I can row from 1-2-d to go and it doesn’t stall out. It has a new solenoid pack. I’m looking at the harness next, followed by PCM. Am I missing anything /should I go check anything else?
You should read the codes. The best way is to download Forscan free at www.forscan.org. Their page shows how to select and adapter to plug into the OBDII port. Once you have the codes we can help direct where to look. Without the codes, all I can tell you is that something is wrong.
If you don't want to get Forscan, you can take it to a good independent shop or a Ford dealer to read the codes. The places that read codes free CANNOT read Ford transmission codes.

Are you sure it's 3rd gear? The 4R100 failure mode for having no power (both shift solenoids "off") is 4th gear. I can't tell by your post whether you have M1 or M2 but I assume you have reverse too.
Does it start out in 1st or 2nd if the shift lever is placed in "1" or "2"?
