I did find a longer barb fitting and received it today.
what I couldn’t find was a 75 psi 3/16th fuel line.
so I decided to roll this back.
ny plan now is to use this 2 micron filter under the cab next to the chasis mounted lift pump I am waiting on.
it would be an easy add on, and I can drop the return fitting and make the filter pass thru.
this would keep the pressures in the engine bay normal.
Hey buddy, care to elaborate on why you went back to stock instead of using the BMP kit?
I’ve been on the fence on whether I wanted the H&S kit or the BMP kit.
With all of the videos out there showing the stock fuel filter spraying fuel from the poorly designed filter itself, along with the fragile connections to me the BMP kit makes sense.
I like that it mounts to the side so it allows you to change filters without disturbing the connections. If I go with the BMP kit I’ll switch to a 4 micron filter for sure.
I went back to stock becuase the return line on my 2019 kept poping off….that causes low fuel warning then engine shut down.
the fitting they use does not have deep enough teeth. Didn’t matter what clamp I used or how tight it was …it kept coming off.
the retailer acknowledged that it was a problem on some trucks and agreed that sharper edge barb fittings would resolve.
I bought the new fitting but need to think about where I would put this if I use it.
I don’t recommend this particular item on a 2017 or later which had the return line potential .
Hmm, I like the BMP kit and that you can change the filter without disconnecting the fittings. On the other hand I’ve changed the upper filter a few times and haven’t had any issues with the fittings. My main concern is the possible rupturing of the filter housing itself. May just go with the H&S kit.
When you place your trust in 3rd party companies for a product that solves a problem with out creating another it’s best to think about mitigation options if there product fails..one option is to over dose the fuel system with lube additives in case a line pops and you windup with potentially dry running your hpfp. The e tea lube additive might protect from having dry hpfp runs.

I know problems happen but I have not had a problem with my 16 in 78k miles. Just did a fuel filter set change. The potential problem is with the one fitting that has the plastic tee nozzle on it on my my truck (for 11 to 16s). Ford could have solved that problem with having that part made in metal but I get it... Adds cost to the truck.
I admit to liking those filter kits but what sucks is you still have to pay for the OEM filter set and spend extra money on another filter for the aftermarket kit.
I'm going to be ordering SPEs machined fitting to have if the fitting breaks one day. You can source the OEM fitting itself but why replace it with a part that may just break again as it gets brittle from the heat under the hood again.
I know Fritz had issues with ordering from SPE themselves but when I order the parts, I'm going to order from @Bitterroot Diesel as I ordered my S&S DPK kit from him and had great service. I'll give a small business and a member here my support.

the spe return repair can not be used to fix the CAT 2 micron hose keeps blowing off on the 2 micron manifold problem.
use the fitting I posted on the 2 micron manifold if your hose keeps blowing off.
Well the weak fitting could be an issue, but there's also videos showing the top center of the OEM fuel filter spraying fuel. Bad design /mold junction on the top.
Mind you, I don't know how wide spread the fuel filter /fire issues are but it worries me.

I'm talking it's use for my truck. I'm buying the SPE fitting to have as a spare for the OEM fuel fitting that has that potential problem tee fitting that points down which on the 17s plus it's a separate and third fitting on the OEM under hood filter. If you still have the OEM under hood filter, you could replace the plastic fuel fitting with this:
I thought you said you put that H&S Cat filter down under the truck and went back to the stock filter under the hood...

I was going to put the 2 micron cat in front of the afe pump but….with 10 micron in the tank….4 micron afe water air sep…2 micron engine bay…and 2 micron s&s return…I think I have all the bases covered. Will probally use the 2 micron cat on my generator .

Copy that... so you could, if you have the stock set up and if you wanted to, use that SPE fitting under the hood.
I just like that it's aluminum and won't break. But I won't switch out until it breaks or something happens with the stock fitting.
Kind of like me ordering that spare DFCM cap and sensors. because schit happens...
