The old headliner was pretty shot. So after matching the fabric from samples that one of the seat cover companies provided I built the headline so it would match the seat upholstery when I get that done. I think it turned out pretty well for my first go around.
Now my visors are looking kinda crumby though.
Yep, thanks for the link. I'm going to do the panels for the doors too. Trying to figure out if I'm brave enough to sew pleats in them. I only have so much material.(there were problems).
Looks pretty good. that fabric looks real close in color and type to the Cartouche seat upholstery I just bought.
It matches the samples exactly of Stock Interiors and Raybuck. This material is called DURAMAX it's a tweed weave made from a material called polyolefin.
Very nice!
Are those shoulder harnesses an aftermarket add-on?
Yeah, those are the ones from Summit. The webbing is much thinner than the originals. I think the buckles were the "classic" option which were also much smaller than the original buckles. But I like em well enough. I did mess up though and forgot to get the lap belt for the center seat.
Looks awesome! What did you use as a base? Did you insulate the roof while at it?
Thanks, I just used a hardboard panel from orange box store. One face was white (vinyl paint I think). Other than a layer of Killmat I did not insulate. There is a 1/4" layer of "headliner foam" between the hardboard and the fabric. The Killmat isn't really thermal insulation but we had some really hot days recently and it seemed like it was blocking a decent amount of heat. I did buy a roll of that Mylar bubble wrap stuff and might still put it in.
Well I went for the pleats. Turned out pretty good. I used 1/4" pellon foam as my tests with the headliner didn't have the definition I was looking for and the 1/2 would have been way too thick. Here is the first one that I finished.
