I purchased the oem remote start pieces with the antenna and 2 keys. Installed the antenna. Had the keys cut and did the suggested programming in the install instructions. The keys will start the truck but the buttons don't work. I used forscan to enable remote start and I can see the options in the truck menu now. Could it be that I got incorrect keys and the fobs and therefore the remote won't work?
You might have to put the truck into RKE programming mode. If you are going to try it, have all key fobs (new and perviouslly programmed) before beginning. Insert a key into the ignition cylinder, rotate the key 7 times from off to on to off position 7 times, on the 8th key turn, the door locks should lock and then unlock to indicate you are in programming mode. Push one of buttons on all the fobs. You should get an indication by the door locks again. When finished, furn the key and the truck will exit RKE programed.
My first post on this site, and I like my first find already.
However, I'd like to add that when you rotate the key from off to on 7 times and then leave it on the 8th time, do it very quickly. I read somewhere you have to do all of this within 8 seconds. Then it worked for me. I bought a kit w/ 2 key fobs, antenna, and antenna lead online. I already have the keys cut, they start the truck, just programmed it via RKE for the buttons to work, now need to get Forscan to enable the remote start. Any tips would be appreciated, and I'll search for them too.
I did the cutting keys and the programing then just took it to dealer I purchased the truck. Was back a few years but only charged me $25. Last month it was $60 to diagnose alarm issue on vehicle I didn't purchase from them. Should be whatever minimum charge is.
