I replaced my clutches and I never had any chatter issues with the new clutches. It's not as easy to change the clutches as one might think. You need to be able to compress the preloaded spring/washer in order to get the spider gears back in place. I found a video that showed a guy using a carriage bolt with a nut and a few washers and used it to compress the preloaded washer. My understanding is the new ford clutches eliminated the chatter issues.
OK thanks, I don't think I'll try that myself. The older I get the less adventuresome I've become. I'll probably just go with it as is, haven't got around to testing it yet as it doesn't get driven a lot during "mustang" weather!

I found it too, but I forgot to mention the bolt tool he made. Looking through the comments I see that one fella used all-thread rod inserted through an open axle tube after removing the axle, and some nuts & washers ... to pull the spiders apart. Good points about marking too.
Lol, could be worse. I bought my 2010 last year and was really excited to finally have a factory installed Elocker. I found it a little odd that the dealer specifically mentioned about having the axle rebuilt through a local shop and the shop only saying that they knew they worked on it but couldn't find paperwork saying what. About 3 weeks later I discovered they just swapped in an LSD because the Elocker was grenaded. Needless to say, they tried to cheap out...took the truck back and had them properly install an Elocker. The LSD worked fine. But I bought my truck for the specific reason of it having the Elocker and that's what I paid for over the cost of an STX or base 4x4.

Well in 2010 there was no e locker. That didn't happen until the 2011 MY.
