Hello all, and welcome to summer. Next ten days are forecast to be over 100 for all but Thursday which will be a paltry 99. However, I heard an ugly rumor that temps will be over 100 for the whole month of July.. Can't wait for September....
Yikes! Here in the Santa Cruz Mountains we're looking at a high of ~~ 78 for the next 5 days or so. We're in the fog zone this morning, but it looks to be lifting quickly.
I am tired of the 100+ heat also, but I have no control over it. So I stay indoors.
Newegg has decided to issue me a refund instead of a replacement laptop. And now that the sale is over, the price has gone up to $1,599. Which means I cannot afford it. Oh well, at least my PayPal card will not be maxed out now.
I am so tired of this BS. I just received an invoice from Newegg for $1,231.70. However it is showing a minus, so I guess that means it is being refunded. No clue, unable to get in touch with their CSR's
The amount was refunded. I took a closer look, and it was minus $1,231.70. And today PayPal tells me they received a refund. Yet, they have not removed it from my balance. Go figure. Probably show up later today.

Can't take advantage of the July 4th sale as PayPal has still not applied the refund to the balance. They state 3-5 "business" days. by the time they add it, the sales will be over. Oh well, I have changed my mind on the laptop I am going to get, and it is not on sale anyway. Problem is, it is more than my PayPal card has even if paid off completely. So, I will wait for my Citi Bank Diamond preferred card to show up, and use that. And the laptop I want can be delivered to the Rite Aid address. So I will be the only one to pick it up. This laptop will run circles around my current main computer, and the one that was mis delivered.
I smell a scam... While on Facebook earlier today catching up on all the latest news, I saw an ad from a company "forced to file for bankruptcy" and they stated they were selling all their computers "at cost" So I perused their listings and found an Alienware Area 51M laptop for sale at $99. I figured the worst that can happen is I am out $99. And I am using PayPal debit instead of credit, so it comes out of my bank account. If worse comes to worse, I just file a claim to get my $99 back. Well, it turns out, they applied a discount for something, and it was only $92. And it will be here in 3-7 business days. It is very similar to the MSI Raider I was looking at that would have cost me $1,710. I looked up the model and found out Alienware is made by Dell, and they sell the Area 51M for $2,000. Now I am really thinking this is a scam. I'm sure if that is true, then this company is not selling it at cost. Nobody buys a $2,000 computer for $92. And yet, I just did. So I can see me waiting the two weeks, and not getting the computer, and having to go through the same process all over again, but this time for $92 instead of $1,380. I'm glutton for punishment I guess. If it does show up and actually works, then I will be a very happy camper. They limited sales to one per person and you had to use PayPal debit, or PayPal credit to purchase anything, so we will see.
As long as they put it back in, and don't charge me for it, I'm good with it.
Jim
That's the whole thing with float. They actually are charging you for it, but at an incredibly low return rate. For you, the interest on $1,300 for a few days is a small amount, but for them, they are adding it up over (probably) millions of customers. To them, it's real money.
The real beauty is that they "float" your money for free. Say for 3 days, it cost them nothing to have your money. They make loans based on your float. Credit can be what? Up to 26.5%? Then they can also sell the debt.
You can always pay off within the grace period, incur no charge, then borrow the money free. Create your own float. Buy something today, like the computer, for $1,000. Invest your money for a quick short term gain. Maybe put it in The Market on futures. Then pay the $1,000 charge off by next month's deadline. Their money will make you money for the next 28 days.
