I'm sorry, its another one of those threads.
I have an 02 2wd with a 7.3. installed an edge monitor on it a few years ago. has never shown the lock symbol in the gear selection screen.
I read on here that tail lights can cause an issue with this so I checked, all bulbs are good and the correct number, and not LED bulbs.
truck drove ok just got Crappy mileage. mostly used as a tow rig for a travel trailer and always to with O/D off so I didn't worry about it too much, assumed it was an internal trans problem, and didn't have the extra money to have it fixed.
after years, and many miles on it, First gear started slipping and reverse as well. I knew I had to have it rebuilt, and figured that the T/C lockup would be fixed at the time because I assumed it was in the trans.
Took the truck to a reputable local Trans shop, had it built for towing and a billet torque converter installed.
Still no lock up. after looking at a bunch of threads on here trying not to be "that guy" who just posts the question without trying to find the answer, I came across several possabilities for parts/reasons for this. I also came across several suggestions for the A/E scanner with the ford enhanced pack from RiffRaff. So instead of just shotgunning parts that I can't really afford and hopping for the best I ordered the scanner. but I don't know exactly what to look for or what the readings should be.
I'm hopping someone will be able to tell me exactly what sensors I need to be reading, and What the values should be, and hopefully also point me towards a resource to learn how to use this software myself over time.
one thing I found in the list of inputs was "unlock converter for traction control" and it went red with a value of "1" when the truck got up to about 50 mph
The truck is mostly stock with a hydra and some full force stage 1 injectors (had a bad injector, so i upgraded them all) and the tunes to support them, but the problem was the same with the stock injectors and tunes as well so I doubt that's it tunes.
can anybody help walk me through diagnosing the problem with the A/E scanner so I can not only fix it, but learn to know what I don't know?

p1000 other than that..
none
over the years I have had a code for the glow plug relay, and one for the cam position sensor. but there are no codes except the one
On my V10 there is a PID i monitor in my Torque Display called TC Slip, I can feel the TC lock, and when it does the TC Slip value drops down to like 1-5, where as when its not locked, it reads in the hundreds, sometimes up to 1500.
It is indicating how much RPM is being allowed to slip at the Torque Converter. Easy way to tell if its locked or not.
Then the torque converter is locking up, If it doesn't lock, it sets a code.
Why do you think it isn't locking?
I have an edge cts monitor that has only shown lockup 1 time in 5 years (in 2018 when I was toing a heavy load up a long hill and the trans got hot). I don't "feel" the lockup after it shifts into 4th, and also yesterday my A/E scanner shows about 400 rpm torque converter slip on a new trans on the freeway. If I understand lockup correctly, that number should be closer to zero right?
You do realize that the Torque Converter is not inside the transmission, but rather is a seperate item, between the engine and transmission, yes? It is possible, but not a good idea to have a transmission rebuilt, but not the torque converter, was the converter replaced/rebuilt with the trans???
Perhaps the converter has an issue, I have only ever used factory converters for my automatic vehicles, and my GT is stick with a RAM HDX clutch so whole different ball game.

Im no expert but in the computer world, a 1 usually means true or on. So in this case, it looks like its programmed to NOT lock the convertor.

I have a billet unit in mine and I can definitely feel it lock up. Wife asked me "why do drive like that, just be smooth"... I had to explain it to her. It is a bit annoying sometimes but nothing I can do about it.
I wonder if that truck has traction control and the TC is malfunctioning, such as a bad wheel sensor or something, such that it is not able to accurately read the conditions at each wheel.

that was my thought, however I can't seem to find any info on ford excursions having traction control, So I don't know/understand where to look and what would cause that issue
