The rotor isn't bolted to the hub.... It's a snug fit between the hub and ID of the rotor though. A small amount of rust builds and requires force to break it free.

The correct size socket is a 5lb sledge hammer ; )

take a 5lb hammer and beat between the studs. The shock may break it loose.

rotors

the rotor is bolted to the inside of the hub I found out you need an e18 torx socket to remove the six bolts

When you put it together, coat the mating surfaces with high-temperature anti sieze compound. Makes future removals a snap!

If I had a new truck this is one of the first things I would do to all four rotors!

What year truck is this? My '03 and '04 did not have the rotors bolted to the hubs. However, the e-brake assembly had to be compressed slightly to get the rotors off.

The OP obviously has an F-350 DRW. SRW trucks have rear brake rotors that knock off once the brake caliper and anchor plate are removed. On DRW trucks, the axle shaft needs to be removed, along with the hub retaining special ratcheting lock nut, then removed as an assembly after which the two are separated by the eight E18 female Torx fasteners.
