Lost

We swapped a transmission in a 96 7.3 l powerstroke diesel it had the e40d in it so that what went back in it. Now all the gears work but if you put it in reverse it goes back prob 20feet then feels like the someone put a brake on in the transmission

I'd be double checking the fluid level, and all the torque convertor bolts.

Is it rebuilt. New, or swap from donor truck?

Rebuilt

It got brand new torque converter fluid levels are good and its pumping fluid

Had a similar issue one time I pulled pan and checked valve body bolts which where lose.

checked and replaced silanoids with brand new and still same no change
