Transmission problems 96 F150
I have a 96 4.9 ltr E4OD and the strangest thing happed to the tranny. I lent out my truck to a friend (big mistake) and he called me saying it had no foward gears.
When you put the truck in reverse it goes into reverse just fine. When you put it in neutral its fine. Nothing happens in drive and 2nd gear acts like it going to do something but the truck wont budge. The wierdest is when you put it in low it goes into reverse.
Any ideas?
Also im having alot of trouble locating a good used tranny and was wondering how hard if possible would it be to convert to a stick.

I'm sure you have checked the fluid. fluid levels are importaint on these trannies.
waht about the MLP have you checked that...
the ole saying is that If you have a Ford replace the MLP

Thanks for the replys. It was low on fluid but is full now. When it messed up they said it was puring fluid out, but when I added it and let it run for awhile it didnt seem to be leaking.
I have no idea what a MLP is? What does it do?

It's the manual lever position sensor. It tells the electronic tranny what gear it should be in.
