Hmmm.
One that’s pretty much a reality, and another a fantasy dream without real proof of coming to the market.
One that builds the most successful trucks on the market, and another that has no idea what real engineering, materials, etc. are needed to endure the real truck user world… barely cars, and over-promises and under-delivers.
If one reads into the video, it’s not hard to see… nothing to compare. Tesla didn’t learn the truck ropes by building one Cybertruck on a Model 3 chassis to showboat around for pictures.

IMO, the Tesla truck will be more for homeowners that are going to go fishing, camping, or move the occasional piece of furniture, and no so much for contractors. The F-150 Lighting will become a contractors workhorse truck. Like I said, IMO.
Soon as I saw the CyberTruck, I'm like nope. Why would anyone buy a roof truss on wheels? It's like a 5 year old drew it and they built it...its the real world equivalent of the Homer. I've liked the artist renditions of the Tesla Truck for years, because those looked like a usable truck. The F150 is going to sell a lot better to truck people, because it's a more usable truck. The bed rails are not tapered, making loading the bed much more reasonable, especially if one is loading it with dirt or mulch.
The CyberTruck doesn't have the practical use that the F150 has. If they wanted to build a futuristic looking work truck, they could've done that, but they chose not to. I'd rather just seem them stick to sedans and sports cars, not dabble into the truck market. Besides, Ford really needs to have a fire lit under their feet for electric cars. Not everyone needs an SUV, even though they are or were in demand. I'm sure we'll see a repeat of 2009, where SUVs don't sell and people want cars again, gas is nearing $3.00 per gallon where I'm at, diesel is $3.09.

Yet I'd still buy a Pacer or Gremlin before I'd ever buy a Tesla CyberTruck.
To me that cyberfreak screams, "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME" The type of person that just has to be center of the party no matter what.
Lots of shade being thrown on Cybertruck, which I suppose is similar to what you see on the Tesla forums when the Lightning comes up. But to be fair, you guys are a bit more reasonable than many Tesla fans...some of them follow Tesla and Elon Musk like a cult.
I traded my Tesla over the weekend, but not because I didn't like it. If my two years of ownership taught me one thing, it's to NOT underestimate Tesla's capacity to bring an outstanding product to market. They've been making cars in volume production for under a decade, and my 3 was *the* most solid car I've ever owned. In two years of ownership, it never gave me any issues to speak of, which is better than any Ford product has done in my garage. I'm happy with a cheaper option that's paid off while I finish my law degree, but I'm almost certainly gonna have another Tesla. Cybertruck is ugly as sin, but I'd put money on it being released with fewer quality issues than the Lightning. I'm sure Ford will do well with the new electric truck, but that's all Tesla has been doing since its inception. And they do it remarkably well.
But I'd be a LOT more comfortable being seen near the Lightning than Cybertruck.

You aren’t wrong. It’s like a cult to many people, and they gleefully contemplate the demise of anything not Tesla. Even their dirty Elon Musk welcomes competition, but they don’t care.
‘It’s likely my next car will be a Model Y; I was that happy with my 3. But there’s lots of strong competition from Ford and everyone else. I think the future looks awesome to anyone who enjoys driving.

This seems interesting to compare ideas & most likely the drive train picture used as the Transit Commercial seems to Share the same system. Its an old picture so most likely there are system updates, still the basic package may be similar.. Otherwise one could easily add a motor at two constant velocity joint differentials using independent suspensions. Its just a comparison not a done deal is my thoughts.

I'm not going to lie, I am not a fan of Tesla or Elon Musk for that matter, but please don't misconstrue my contention as blindly supporting one brand while slandering another, I also have never owned a Tesla personally so my thoughts on them should be taken with a grain of salt. I also am not going to pretend I know every single in and out about mass production or how the industry functions as I only know as much as your average car/truck enthusiast ,I am trying to be as fair to Tesla and Ford as possible with this response. With that said, that's my thoughts on whole situation.
