transfer case cracked at drain plug

I noticed I had a leak in my transfer case and found that there are 2 small crackes that go along the ouside of where the fill plug is. The leak is minor, but I really hate having something like that leak. I think the previous owner drove the fill plug in too far maybe? Anyway, I am trying to see if there is a good spot to leave the plug so it doesn't leak by turning is a little one way or the other each day and watching. Anyone know if there is a cheap fix for something like this? the cracks are only about 3/4" long and are at 6 oclock and 9 oclock where the drain plug goes in. It is a BW Xfer case.

Clean the case where it is cracked real good. Then get you some JB Weld, mix it up and work it into the cracks.
I used it on axle housing one time and it was still ok when I sold the truck 4 yrs. later

Take the case out and either have it welded or have it cleaned really good at a machine shop before you epoxy it. Or do it yourself if you've got the space and time. If you don't get all of the oil out of the crack the jb weld will either come off, or the oil will work it's way out from under it and seep again. I have a boat valve cover doing the same thing and so far I can't get it to stop leaking. Next step is the heliarc machine.
